One of the great things about being a food lover in Toronto is that there are so many food events going on in and around the city (and by “so many” I mean, like, a gajillion). The only problem is that there are great ones, good ones, and bad ones… and it’s often tough to tell where to spend your time (and money).
Running from September 18-20, 2015, the Toronto Food & Wine Festival is the evolution of the Delicious Food Show (one of my favourite food events of the year – I’ve never missed one!) and their partnership with Food & Wine magazine.
(From the press release): Toronto FOOD & WINE Festival will put the expertise and creativity of the best culinary talents from across the continent in the spotlight with new and exciting features. Over the course of three delectable days, guests will experience the best in food and wine, beer, spirits and other beverages; from sipping and savouring 130 vendors in the Grand Tasting Pavilion presented by PC Black Label, to taking in live demonstrations by celebrity chefs on the Miele Celebrity Stage, to cooking alongside top chefs in the Exclusive Chef Series presented by Cuisinart.
The celebrity chef star power will be HUGE during this event. Appearances by names such as Curtis Stone, Tyler Florence, Gail Simmons, Chuck Hughes, Roger Mooking, Mark McEwan, Antonio Park, Daniel Boulud, Rob Gentile, Matt Basile and Nick Liu are just the start. I checked out the media preview on Friday morning and had a fantastic time. Keep in mind that the show’s new location at the Evergreen Brickworks, while a beautiful setting, is a little tough to get to (with limited parking and no direct TTC access) and parts of the venue are at the mercy of the weather (it was a warm morning and I was starting to get uncomfortably hot by the time I left.)
The variety and number of vendors was impressive and the food was definitely some of the best I’ve ever had at a food event. I could go on about the soft pulled pork, the decadent chocolate, the bread (OMG, the BREAD) and the other unique and inventive dishes, but enough words – let’s get to the food photos!
Just a few of the delicious dishes I sampled:
And much, much more…
If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, I highly recommend you go and check out the Toronto Food & Wine Festival!
